Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy
-
At this time, I offer virtual individual therapy for adults in Illinois. Many first-gen professionals prefer virtual therapy because it fits real life — busy schedules, commuting, caregiving, and the need for privacy.
-
Yes. I offer therapy in English, Spanish, and Spanglish — whichever feels most natural for you. Sometimes emotions land differently in our first language, and you deserve support that honors that.
-
I specialize in supporting high-achieving, first-generation professionals who experience:
Anxiety and overthinking
Burnout and chronic stress
Depression or emotional numbness
Perfectionism and imposter syndrome
Trauma and difficult life experiences
Cultural guilt, family pressure, and boundary struggles
-
Yes — I’m trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a trauma-informed approach that can help you process painful experiences and shift the beliefs your nervous system is still holding onto.
-
Yes. Trauma isn’t only one big event. It can also be what happens when you’ve had to stay strong for a long time — emotional neglect, chronic stress, instability, or growing up feeling like you had to earn safety and love. We’ll explore your story gently, at your pace.
-
I’m currently an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance at this time. I can provide a superbill for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan.
I accept HSA/FSA and credit cards as payment.
If you have a health insurance plan, please contact your provider to confirm any out of network behavioral health coverage. If you do, I can provide a receipt of services, also known as a superbill, that you can submit to your insurance for a possible reimbursement.
Ask your insurance provider the following questions:Do I have out of network mental health benefits? If I do, is telehealth covered?
If yes, what percentage of the cost do you reimburse?
Do I have a deductible I need to pay before I get reimbursed? If yes, what is the deductible amount? Has my deductible been met?
How many sessions per year are covered?
Is a prior authorization from my Primary Physician required?
How/Where can I submit a superbill?

A limited number of reduced-fee slots are available based on income/need. Email info@encuentratecc.com for more information. If I’m not able to accommodate your financial situation, I’m always happy to provide referrals.

Start by scheduling a consultation so we can explore what you’re looking for and whether we’re a good fit. If it feels aligned, we’ll talk about next steps.

Life & Career Coaching

Therapy often focuses on healing emotional distress, trauma, and mental health symptoms, and it may include diagnosing and treatment planning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Consultations for Students & Therapists
-
A consultation is a one-time or as-needed session where you can “pick my brain” and receive mentorship, strategy, and guidance — especially if you’re first-gen and navigating your professional path without a roadmap.
-
Common topics include:
Grad school, internship, and early-career guidance
Navigating licensing and professional development
Starting or growing a private practice
Building confidence as a bilingual clinician
Preparing for workshops, presentations, or panels
Career direction and next steps
-
If you’re looking for formal supervision, we can discuss your needs and whether I currently have availability and fit (depending on your licensure stage and state requirements).
-
Consultation is not therapy. It’s professional guidance, mentorship, and education — focused on your career path and skills rather than mental health treatment.
-
Yes — consultations can be in English, Spanish, or Spanglish.
