About Daisy Gómez, LCPC

First-Gen Latina Therapist, Speaker & Founder of Encuéntrate Counseling & Consulting

¡Bienvenidos!

I’m Daisy Gómez, CEO and Founder of Encuéntrate Counseling & Consulting.

I’m a trauma-informed, Spanish-speaking, bilingual Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois. For over a decade, I’ve supported children, teens, adults, and families across community mental health, schools, non-profits, research institutions, crisis work, and psychiatric hospitals.

Underneath all those roles is something simple: I became the therapist and mentor I once needed.

My Story as a First-Gen, High-Achiever

From the “perfect” daughter of immigrants  to therapist & cycle-breaker.

I grew up as a proud Mexican-American daughter of immigrant parents, moving between summers in México and school years in the U.S. That bilingual, bicultural upbringing shaped everything about my work, my values, and the way I see healing.

I was that kid who:

  • Started high school in 7th grade

  • Graduated early with AP credits

  • Was always “the smart one,” the responsible one paving my own way

On the outside, I looked like a success story. On the inside, I was navigating culture shock, pressure, and isolation long before I had language for anxiety, perfectionism, or burnout.

Those experiences are part of why I do this work today.
Because success shouldn’t come at the cost of our mental health.
Because gifted kids grow up into high-achievers and deserve success.

Education & Training

  • Brainspotting

  • Person-Centered and Solution-Focused approaches

Who I Work With Now or My Specialty

Therapy & Support for High-Achieving, First-Gen Professionals

My current work is centered around helping high-achieving, first-generation adult professionals move through overwhelm, anxiety, depression, and burnout  and heal from difficult life experiences and generational patterns.

My areas of specialty include:

  • Anxiety, perfectionism, and chronic worry

  • Depression and emotional numbness

  • Burnout and overworking

  • Trauma and attachment wounds

  • First-gen identity, cultural guilt, and family expectations

My intention is to help you step into your power by reconnecting with your authentic self, not the version others expect you to be.

How I Practice

Culturally Sensitive, Trauma-Informed, Bilingual Care

I practice through a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed lens using evidence-based approaches like EMDR, CBT, and somatic tools. Sessions are available in English, Spanish, or Spanglish whichever feels most natural to your nervous system.

I created Encuéntrate Counseling & Consulting to:

  • De-stigmatize mental health in BIPOC and first-gen communities

  • Normalize seeking trauma-informed, culturally affirming support

  • Offer therapy, trainings, and consultations that feel both grounded and accessible

This isn’t one-size-fits-all therapy. It’s a space where your story, ancestors, and future self are all welcome.

Beyond the Therapy Space

  • Virgo Sun, Leo Moon, Gemini Rising

  • Cafecito, música, and journaling are some of my favorite grounding tools

  • I’m the first in my family to earn a master’s degree and start a business

  • I’m still a high-achievers that enjoys a softer and slower life

Closing:
If you grew up like me, navigating two cultures, high expectations, and very little emotional support, I want you to know this:

You are not too much. You are not alone.
And you don’t have to keep surviving on your own. You deserve to thrive.
